PhD position on NWO-funded 'Magic Moments in Word Learning' project, Radboud University Nijmegen, The Netherlands As a PhD student you will work on the project ‘Magic moments in word learning: memory formation and consolidation across ages and language settings’. This project investigates the behavioural and neural magic moments in word learning that are related to memory encoding, consolidation, and generalization. In a series of behavioural, EEG- and fMRI experiments, monolingual and bilingual adults will be asked to learn words. Questions that will be examined include the functional and neural aspects of generalization of learning, whether prior language learning modulates the learning of novel vocabulary, and how newly-learned words compete for selection in bilinguals’ first and second languages.
